Oedipus Smith II
Oedipus Smith II was born to the well known smith of Threshold Oedipus Smith Sr. and Lyna Smith. Unfortunately Lyna died while giving birth to Oedipus. The loss of his wife made Oedipus Sr. sink all his time into his work making his small forge very profitable. However by doing this he ignored Oedipus Jr. while he was growing up. With out his fathers attention looked to Maximus the number one smith working in his fathers forge for guidance. Maximus was a great man and excepted Oedipus as his own until his father was willing to spend time with him. Oedipus was so desperate for his fathers approval that he snuck into the forge at night and tried to make armor and weapons of his own. This willingness to work in the forge would have made this father proud but while he was trying to do this Oedipus ruined the mithril that was given to his father to make a master work suit of full plate for a neighboring prince. Even as angry as this father was since replacing the ruined mithril almost cost his father the forge Oedipus was finally given the attention he wanted.? At the age of 10 he was in charge of cleaning the forge every night and making sure all the tools were accounted for. By 11 years of age Oedipus was making small blades and arrows to help give his father and Maximus time to work on larger more important jobs. At 12 Oedipus and Maximus started traveling to sell wears farther then normal to hopefully increase sales. Oedipus was not good at sales do to his attitude when he dealt with clients. He would over look simple manors to admire the armor even if that meant opening private storage to examine items more closely. This was the reason that Oedipus was not allowed to continue going on these trips which meant he spent more time at home with is father while Maximus was on the road. Over the next 2 years Oedipus and his father got to be closer and more like best friends then father and son. Oedipus was a fast learner with his fathers teaching he was looking to be a great smith in no time at all. On his 15th birth day Oedipus was sent by his father to go to the mines to pick out some ore to make his own personal hammer and armor. While he was out getting the ore a band of goblin raiders attacked his father’s forge. When Oedipus returned he found his father dead in the middle of the forge lying on top of the secret trap door to the special storage room. Upon searching the room he found a war hammer that was not there before on the hammer was a note that read “To my son Oedipus I’m so proud of the man you are becoming.” Oedipus frantically searched the rest of the forge for survivors but was unable to find any. He found about a dozen Goblins slain on the property but no other bodies. Maximus was nowhere to be found nor was the other trade cart. For the next year Oedipus spent time studying goblins to learn all that he could about the creatures that killed his father. From that time on he vowed to kill all goblins that he could find to get revenge for his fathers death. On his 16th birthday, decided to leave the running of the forge to the last remaining worker left Oedipus set out to find Maximus, and kill all the goblins he could find. Shortly after entering Threshold he found a group of adventurers that agreed to take him with them on there journeys and to begin his quest.
