Karameikos is known as the Kingdom of Adventure, partly because of a local custom called the Shearing Ceremony, and partly because of the fact that Karameikos is a largely untamed wilderness, with wild beasts and all manner of adventures awaiting around every corner or tree. The country borders The Republic of Darokin to the north. Ylaraum to the northeast, Thyatis to the east, and The Five Shires to the west. The island nation of Ierendi is a short distance off the southern shores.
The Kingdom is heavily wooded with a few distinct forests of considerable size. Most notably are the Riverfork Woods (known to the native Traladarans as the Achelos Woods), the Radlebb Woods, and the dreaded Dymrak Forest. Almost the entire country is covered in forested hills and as one travels farther north they encounter higher elevations and eventually run into the Cruth Mountain Range, which merge with the Alten Tepes Mountains to the east.
